Why buy this version of the Episode I screenplay? Far from a facsimile, this is an edited version of the shooting script, modified to fit the action exactly. I DON'T recommend it. If you want a copy of the script, I recommend the Star Wars Episode I: The Phantom Menace Illustrated Screenplay, which has storyboards of all the action and is the original shooting script, with scenes not appearing in the finished version. Only buy this if you want a version that fits the movie exactly.

Star Wars: The Hunt for Aurra Sing Review

Star Wars: The Hunt for Aurra Sing
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
The Hunt for Aurra Sing is another commendable comic in this Ongoing series, one that has little substance aside from the fun read it is. With the primary storyline hunting down the Jedi killer like the animal she is, this comic lacks any other plots that could have made it more interesting.
This comic is closure for the Ki-Ad-Mundi, A'Sharad and Sing characters. Next up you have Twilight, and the focus under new artist teams shifts to Quinlin Vos and his peers.
Quality of art is comparable to Emissaries to Malastare---or at least its first half, before the art went out the airlock. Here, texture and illustrations are not of Twilight's superb quality but still stand out well. Aside from the saber blades, which are little more than single-colour sticks, shadowing and resolution is actually not so bad. All cover arts here, however, issue and TPB fronts, were terrible.
The dialogue varies between the cast, which incorporates the simple-minded Jedi hunters, the Quarren political retinue, and of course Sing's delightful self-indulgent lines. Cocky, sarcastic, brazen, you just gotta love her.
The prologue scene is typical of what you'd expect from this sort of comic, but being long enough it doesn't end too quickly and had enough emotional support to see it through. Sing taking out a Jedi team after her trail---an Anx and Kerestian (8 cheek noses) Jedi Master, starts the ball rolling. Interesting to see her reluctant to kill apprentices until they're old enough to face her; the little Twi'lek girl, now orphaned, appears back in the later Aayla Secura comic, a nice continuity touch by that team indeed.
The Jedi party after her hide acts like all Jedi of that era do: predictably naive and persistently outsmarted. But hey, if they weren't shot down, the plot couldn't progress, could it? For young A'Sharad, it's to account for the murderess that killed his father; for Ki-Ad-Mundi, it's concern for his master's welfare, the enigmatic Dark Woman; and Adi Gallia's lacklustre role here has her little more than a figurehead.
Did I say Dark Woman? You bet I did. She's back again, grinning in looks, with her own issue cover in the third. If Vader only slays her just before Episode 4, there's still two decades of timeline to have more of her. Hint hint wink nudge . . .
Overall, The Hunt for Aurra Sing will appeal to her fanbase, and particularly if you've already invested in Outlander and Emissaries to Malastare.

Healing the Fisher King: Spiritual Lessons with Parzival, Gump, the Grail, Tao, and Star Wars Review

Healing the Fisher King: Spiritual Lessons with Parzival, Gump, the Grail, Tao, and Star Wars
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
If I had to use one word to describe this book it would have to be "brilliant". Shelly Durrell deftly takes the reader on a highly informative journey through the story of Parzival and the Grail complete with a detailed psychological analysis. At the same time she explores how the theme is used consistently throughout some of the most successful films of our time including Star Wars, Forest Gump, The Natural, and others. This is a strong and detailed exegesis of the Arthurian tale of Parzival, the search for the Grail, and the Fisher King. By understanding Parzival and the Fisher King we come to understand how to heal our own emotional wounds.
A story of hurt, growth, and healing, "Healing the Fisher King" is a wonderful read as Shelly Durrell provides a thoroughly illuminating examination of all aspects of the tale. It is a highly recommended read for people dealing with an emotional hurt that will not heal, an interest in fine literature, or anyone else that just enjoys a well written book that shows the common bonds that we all must experience and work through in our lives. Bravo, Shelly Durrell.

Jango Fett: Bounty Hunter (Star Wars: Attack of the Clones / Jedi Readers, Step 3) Review

Jango Fett: Bounty Hunter (Star Wars: Attack of the Clones / Jedi Readers, Step 3)
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
"Jango Fett: Bounty Hunter" is a good read for those with an interest in the bounty hunters. The story begins between Episodes I and II, when Count Dooku hires Django to assassinate Senator Amidala. The plot quickly runs into "Attack of the Clones," finishing with the death of Zam Wesell. That written, it would be misleading to believe that this is merely an abbreviated retelling of a movie. This book features significant character development between Jango and his son, Boba. Furthermore, the reader witnesses many events that are mentioned or assumed to have taken place in the film. Eric Arnold's writing is perfect for most third graders. "Jango Fett" is set-up as a first chapter book. Valerie Reckert's illustrations are awful. Most images feature movie scenes that are superimposed with original artwork. The problem isn't the approach, it's the amateurish execution. That written, the intended audience would probably take no such issue. Illustrations aside, "Jango Fett: Bounty Hunter" is a high interest book for the young reader.

Star Wars: Episode 1 Jedi Power Battles : Prima's Official Strategy Guide Review

Star Wars: Episode 1 Jedi Power Battles : Prima's Official Strategy Guide
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
This Prima strategy guide greatly enhanced my Jedi Power Battles gaming experience from the moment I purchased it, and is still assisting me a month later (see my JPB game review from "a Gamer from Cleveland, OH"). The guide contains critical gameplay strategy concerning Lock-on Mode and Boss creatures, level walkthroughs and point benchmarks in all levels for Force and health bonuses, a listing of all five of the jedi's combos, a sealed section concealing secret levels and the hidden playable characters and their moves, and also a great 24-18" Star Wars poster is included. Unfortunately, there are some errors in this guide, such as incorrect combinations for some of the jedi, but these are infrequent and easily noticed and corrected. I highly recommend Prima's Official Jedi Power Battles Strategy Guide to any fan of this popular Playstation title.

Lone Star and Double Eagle: Civil War Letters of a German-Texas Family

Ms. Altglet shows off her obviously suberb knowledge of the ancient German language and also her ability to dig deeply into little known subject matter. Her explanations of the various details of these marvelous letters between several sons and their father during the Civil War read like you were there in the parlor while they were being read. I learned a great deal about the Texas German involvement in the war. My hat's off to a delightful author.

Star Wars Galactic Battlegrounds: Prima's Official Strategy Guide Review

Star Wars Galactic Battlegrounds: Prima's Official Strategy Guide
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I bought this guide because I love the game Star Wars: Galactic Battlegrounds (I'll assume anyone who reads this will already have played the game so I won't describe it). I recieved an excerpt with my copy of the game which had the chapter on tips on playing the game (times for moving through tech levels, etc.). I was excited, but slightly disappointed to find that a large portion of the guide details how to get through all the scenarios rather then the normal game, which I was more interested in.
There is the (pretty good) story for the first chapter (although it goes in the some-stormtroopers-are-clones theory, where I go more for the (noncanon?) view detailed by Timothy Zahn's trilogy), and then the book goes into a overview of the main menu (what each button does). The next chapter was the excerpt included in my game (which is a good chapter). After that, detailed stats on every unit/building in the game, and then a neat transcript of a conversation about the different civilizations, along with a tiny chapter on strategies.. Pages 63-175 (out of 204) detail every single scenario. After that is another chat about multiplayer strategies, and then two appendices.
All in all, it is a very handy resource, it just won't replace you playing and finding out how to win yourself.

Shadow Star (Chronicles of the Shadow War, Book 3) Review

Shadow Star (Chronicles of the Shadow War, Book 3)
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
The scope and breadth of this work outshines even its predecessors. Picking up right where Shadow Dawn left off, it continues the adventures of Elora Danan and her protectors and friends.
All the rising questions of the first two books are answered in the end, tying together all three books and the movie in a way that only George Lucas could achieve. More questions are raised, and then their answers revealed. The actions the characters take are shocking, but fitting.
A few technical problems do mar the book, though. Claremont's writing is good, but still leaves much to be desired. Typos riddle the book, as well as a few very vaguely defined scenes. These, combined with scattered contradictions of the first two books, tend to break the immersion.
Overall, though, I'd say the plot more than makes up for it. The ending is simply amazing, and so very far from what I had expected. And best of all, I think, is that in the end, it's really only just beginning.

I have a 10 years old boy and I have borrowed the first book in this Star Wars Science Adventures ,Emergency in Escape Pod Four (Star Wars Science Adventures),from the local library. The combination between text and drawings grabbed my attention so I have start reading this book. The results was that I could not wait to get the sequel which is the "Journey Across Planet X".
If you are really interested in your children scientific education get these books as soon as you can.I believe in multidisciplinary education (you can see some of my projects at [...]) and I was really impressed by this two little books.I am surprised to see that nobody else reviewed them yet.
The action is not complicated and the end of each chapter will make you curious to read right away the next one.The style is alert, full of dialogue and a ton of scientific facts ingeniously inserted in the text.I must confess that reading these books I felt almost the same thrill I had some 40 year ago when I read Joules Verne.
I wish I could read more books like this but I am afraid that ,since the book was published in 1999,there will not be another sequel.

Star Wars: Jango Fett: Open Seasons Review

Star Wars: Jango Fett: Open Seasons
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
Open Seasons is one of those comics that is highly recommended reading. This is where you'll find Jango Fett's backstory, which seamlessly ties into what little is known of his cloned son Boba Fett, and his Jaster Mereel alto ego. The comic derives its name from the four issues subtitled after the four seasons of winter, spring, summer, fall, and provides reason for Montross's animosity in the Bounty Hunter console game.
The artwork here is just superb. Colours shine off the page, illustrations are depthful, more 3Dish than the standard fare you get, what more could you want? I strongly believe that comics, being the visual material they are, must have the best artwork possible, to show what a standard novel can only express in words. If that's the case, Open Seasons is gold.
The dialogue is up to par. Could have benefited with more humour, but the cast worked well for given characters. Then again, given the nature of the plot, too much would have detracted from the persona of Jango Fett.
The storyline is your typical coming of age: peaceful youth avenging the death of parents and a shattered childhood, forged into one of the galaxy's finest bounty hunters. The setting is soon after Phantom Menace, Dooku recounting to his master Sidious why Fett makes the ideal prime clone for their clandestine operations. It even provides some explanation for why Dooku himself--if you can believe the old man--broke from the Jedi Order.
You see what Jango is made of here in the Galidraan debacle, where the Jedi and Mandalorians have it out. You'd get the impression the Jedi really are dependant on their saber sticks to be dangerous, as though that made any difference to the Fett. Does leaving you wondering in AOTC if script limitations hadn't necessitated Mace Windu to survive Fett.
Just a few trivialties here. Jango looks more lighter complexioned than he did on the screen. Without enough names in dialogue, it does make it challenging to identify your Mandalorian in near-identical uniforms. Most annoying, why do these people always have to be farmboys (Luke, Baron Fel, Jango, etc)? And the biggest one of all: at the end, when Jango flies across space to crash through a ship's bridge viewports, in a vacuum without breathing or decompression?!
Overall, with art quality and storyline this good, Open Seasons is one fine gift to get, and definitely worth getting.

If you enjoy learning about your matinee heros and idols this book is a fun read. For all of the history of our military and warfare that I have read, this book was full of facts that I was unaware of.

Click Here to see more reviews about: International Stars at War

The last in a popular series on movie stars in the military, this handsome book provides readers with a guide to film actors of many nations who served in various branches of their own military forces. Because they appeared in Hollywood movies, many of these figures will be familiar to Americans.A few even won Oscars. Others worked closer to home but are still readily recognizable. Most of them date their service to World War II, and the preponderance is British. Among the more than sixty stars featured are the British actors Richard Attenborough, Richard Burton, Michael Caine, Royal Navy gunner Sean Connery, Alex Guinness, Rex Harrison, Anthony Hopkins (who spent a year with the Royal Artillery during the Cold War), Ray Milland, Roger Moore (a first lieutenant with the British Army in occupied West Germany after World War II), David Niven, Michael Rennie, and Peter Ustinov. Those from Canada include Lorne Greene, Raymond Massey, and Walter Pidgeon. The Frenchmen include Maurice Chevalier and Charles Boyer. Also featured are Laurence Harvey of South Africa, Peter Finch of Australia, Oskar Werner of Germany, Toshiro Mifune of Japan, and Audrey Hepburn, who as a child was a courier for World War II resistance fighters in Holland. While the book focuses on the stars' military experiences, it also provides information about their earlier lives and screen careers after their service. Like the other books in the series, it will have wide appeal.

Star Wars Gamemaster Screen (Star Wars Accessory) Review

Star Wars Gamemaster Screen (Star Wars Accessory)
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
Starting with the bad: The lack of a chart listing damage dice for common weapons is a major oversight, particularly considering that the climb and persuasion skills each get their own table here, not to mention two entire tables devoted to how hard it is to break various objects.
I give it points for being a sturdier GM screen than I expected, being made of much thicker cardstock than most screens I've used. I also like that it is shorter than most other screens, making it both easier to peek over and not being an intimidating "wall" between you and your players. The art on the front of the screen is attractive, and the whole thing has a kind of glossy laminate that will help stand up to wear.
I would like to give it three-and-a-half stars, but three isn't quite fair.

Spaceships (Star Wars) Review

Spaceships (Star Wars)
Average Reviews:

"Spaceships" is fun for the youngest of Star Wars readers. The format is the most remarkable aspect of the title; this is a board book. The odds are with this book that it could survive a direct assault by a Star Destroyer. So there's little chance that the hands of a four year old will do any harm to the cardboard pages. As the title indicates, the book is a tour of the galaxy's most memorable star ships. There's the Star Destroyer, Millennium Falcon, TIE Fighter, X-Wing, B-Wing and the Grand Poobah of them all, the Death Star. In a day when most Star Wars books cover the entire saga, "Spaceships" is loyal to the original trilogy. Each of the six spreads show a featured ship and a sentence. Additionally, onomatopoeic sounds provide a written soundtrack. Perfect for youngsters, the pages are done in such a way that there are two textures. Each illustration is a blending of the regular page surface along with an area that's smooth and shiny. These dual textures invite touching. All in all, youngling readers will enjoy blasting off with "Spaceships."

Teller's War: The Top-Secret Story Behind the Star Wars Deception Review

Teller's War: The Top-Secret Story Behind the Star Wars Deception
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
This book presents one aspect of the Strategic Defense Initiative: namely, the role of Edward Teller in the formation of X-ray lasers and Smart Pebbles. If you are looking for general coverage of SDI, this book is probably not for you. However, this book does present the Teller angle thoroughly and well. It portrays the scientist and his actions in the context of his psyche, the political environment in which he operated, and through the eyes of the scientists who participated in the program.
The reader will come away from this book with a much better appreciation for the factors that went into some of the major decisions affecting SDI. Broad covers the technical aspects of his subject matter, without alienating those of us who are not nuclear physicists, which I suspect represents a large percentage of the population.
