The LEGO Book Review

The LEGO Book
Average Reviews:

I pre-ordered this set for my 12 yr old son. I received it yesterday and I must say I am quite pleased with the set. I found myself thoroughly enjoying the colorful pages and skimming over all the mini figures and sets that have evolved over the decades. Viewing the pages provided a bit of nostalgia for me as I was able to share my own memories with my son. This set is great for the Lego Collector or enthusiast. I really enjoyed the overview of the history of Lego along with the timelines and descriptions of manufacturing, etc.
If you are looking for "building tips" or "an idea book" this is not the book for you, instead I would look into the purchase of: "The Unofficial Lego Builder's Guide" by Allan Bedford, or the DK Lego Modelers series that have booklets containing ways to create characters using common lego pieces that you may already have in your collection.

My 5-year-old is obsessed with all things Lego and Star Wars. This book is awesome! It's fun for him and funny to read. My husband read it to my son for bedtime last night and came down asking me if there were more like it. Even he enjoyed it! Definitely worth the money.

Star Wars Episode I: The Phantom Menace Movie Scrapbook Review

Star Wars Episode I: The Phantom Menace Movie Scrapbook

Though this is a book for young children, at the age of 30, I found, after seeing the movie, it helped me to understand the characters, planets, weaponry, and so much more. Do you know what determines the color of a light saber? Or how a Jedi is determined and at what age they start training? That and so many other answers are given in this book, it's packed full of great photo's and even gives a little lesson on the people who brought the film to being. Highly recommended!

Star Wars Storybook Review

Star Wars Storybook
Average Reviews:

This is a terrific children's storybook that came out about the same time or shortly after the original movie was released back in the '70s. Yes, the movie was great, but so is this book. Every page has at least one full-color live-action shot from the movie. Many of the pictures nearly take up the entire page, but there is still room for Geraldine Richelson to retell the classic story in terms a child can understand. If parent's still read bedtime stories to kids, this should be one of them.

LEGO Star Wars: The Visual Dictionary Library Edition Review

LEGO Star Wars: The Visual Dictionary Library Edition
Average Reviews:

We ordered this for my Son's school, at the same time as we ordered the hardback version (LEGO Star Wars: The Visual Dictionary) for ourselves. They look to be identical except that this one does not include the mini-fig. As a result it also doesn't have the 1/4 inch spacer mat inside the front cover.
As for content, there are a few pages at the front that are a listing of all the lego star wars sets. After that the pages are much like the normal The Visual Dictionary of Star Wars, Episodes IV, V, & VI: The Ultimate Guide to Star Wars Characters and Creatures, except with close up pictures of legos, rather than movie stills.

Star Wars: Battles for the Galaxy Review

Star Wars: Battles for the Galaxy
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
As most of you already know the Star Wars franchise has released score upon score of books that detail everything from the heroes, villains, aliens and monsters to spaceships, weapons, planets, history and more. For fans of Star Wars you can get books on just about all aspects of that universe to spark your imagination. Battles for the Galaxy is a newer entry into this pantheon of literature, and to be honest it's just a kid's book. For the older fans looking for new insights into the Star Wars universe this book offers abolutely nothing new. For young readers just getting into Star Wars this is a great book to introduce a lot of those cool things the other books go into greater detail from.
You would think from the cover this book would read like a propaganda piece recruiting support for the Clone Wars. However this is not the case. It is a simple play by play book starting from the very beginning of the prequel trilogy all the way up to it's conclusion back in 1984 (heh heh...). The book essentially chronicles all of the battles from all of the movies with general information on how the battle started and how it ended up.
You also get a little background information on the those involved with the battle. This information is actually pretty neat with little spurts of knowledge like where the Gungans get their plasma balls, how connected Grand Moff Tarkin is with the Empire, and how close the Battle of Endor was. In between notes about battles your kid will also get some nifty illustrations showing just about all of the spaceships, weapons and droids that fought in these battles. No details mind you, just lots and lots of pictures to spur the imagination.
The pictures are bright and full of detail. The text is easy to read and in short columns for segmented reading. This book will really give your children a primer that can lead them to a lifetime of love for the Star Wars universe (as well as hundreds spent on more technical book in their future... but I guess that's the whole idea for Lucasfilm). Does your kid love the battles from Star Wars? Give them this book.

Lego Star Wars Ultimate Sticker Collection (ULTIMATE STICKER COLLECTIONS) Review

Lego Star Wars Ultimate Sticker Collection (ULTIMATE STICKER COLLECTIONS)
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I've found that these Lego sticker books are well worth the price. Initially they seem expensive, but consider these points:
*The book includes nicely decorated pages with a spot for each sticker.
*The pages are thick and glossy - not cheap, dull paper.
*Stickers are "re-stickable", so if your child puts it in the wrong place or crooked, they can be peeled and re-stuck. We've even been able to unstick them from standard printer paper.
*There's TWO of every sticker. So you can put one on the collector's page, and still have another for making your own creations.
*There's tons of small .5"x.5" miscellaneous sticker as well (along with doubles of each of these, too.
This book is focused on Lego Star Wars, so plenty of stickers to satisfy a fan. You get to see so many pictures of minifigures which you might struggle to find elsewhere. *Note*: You can see what the stickers look like by using the "Look Inside" feature above. Once you click it, then use the search box. Type in a character's name, like "Luke". It'll bring up a preview of many more pages, including some of the actual sticker pages. This way you can also see if a specific character is shown.
Other books are available to explore the City theme, as well as a general book that covers many different themes.
The only negative is that some stickers are very intricate. Since they are die-cut to shape, you might rip the thinner parts. This is where having the extra of every sticker comes in handy.
All in all a great value.

Dr Seuss would be proud.
"Don't Wake the Zillo Beast" introduces the Star Wars Universe to young readers, and most particularly, beasts and dangerous animals. Clear pronunciation guides, and large kid friendly images make this a good book for kindergarten to grade one or two.
See the Zillo Beast eat the grass. Num..numm...
The Clone Wars are sure to continue for a LOOOONNNNNG time with books like this.

LEGO Brickmaster: Star Wars Review

Whenever these come out, we buy them. They have this one, castles, Atlantis and Pirates. My kids have all of them and play for hours. I love that the instruction books are hard cover, and attached. I also love that it gives good instructions and gets the kids starting building, just as their imaginations take off, and they start designing their own creations.
I also like that these will sit in a book shelf, with a book attached to a pouch that holds the legos. This is nice for easy storage, and they just don't go into a big "lego bin".

LEGO Star Wars: The Visual Dictionary Review

Very nice hardback book with lots of stunning pictures of what else? Star Wars Legos!
We are big fans of Legos in general and this book did not disappoint. It came with a bonus Luke Skywalker mini-figure. As with all DK books, you get great pictures, thorough descriptions, and just a generally enjoyable book to collect or read.
I bought 2 copies of this book, one to read, and one to collect.
The only thing that bothered me a (very tiny) little bit was how the Luke Skywalker mini-fig was packaged. At first glance it looks like a much thicker book, but about half of the thickness is a spacer placed inside the book to make room for the mini-fig, so it lays flush with the front cover. I posted some pictures on the main item page if you want to see what I mean. Nothing that I would knock a star off for though.
Overall, we are VERY happy with this book. Great price for a quality book that will not disappoint young and old!
