The History And The HardwareHow exactly did the Empire come into being? Who are those strange beings who patronize the cantina at Mos Eisley Spaceport? And what exactly makes the Millennium Falcon one of the fastest ships in the galaxy? The saga that was born with the line "A long time ago, in a galaxy far, far away..." needs no introduction, but the intricacies of the epic tale go far beyond a simple phrase. It is a vast universe that provides the setting for Star Wars, The Empire Strikes Back, and Return of the Jedi; strange creatures known as Jawas deal in used droids, while moisture farmers eke out a living on a harsh and arid desert planet. Rebel forces use whatever material they can muster, bringing it to bear against a vast and technologically advanced Empire that possesses weaponry capable of destroying an entire world in the space of a heartbeat. The Star Wars Technical Journal takes an in-depth look at the many and varied elements that comprise the rich Star Wars tapestry, including:-- The spacecraft, from TIE Series fighters to Star Destroyers-- The exotic locales, including Tatooine, Hoth, and Cloud City-- Histories of the Empire and the Rebel forces...and much, much more.Through comprehensive entries, extensive photographs, detailed schematics, rare production artwork, character designs, and six eight-page fold-out blueprints, the secrets of the species, the technologies, and the inner-workings of the Rebel and Imperial forces unfold.Through months of meticulous research, Texas author Shane Johnson reviewed hours of film and radio drama, hundreds of pages of technical material and media materials, roleplaying rules, production art, and everything else available covering the Star Wars canon. A talented technical illustrator as well, he also produced the schematics needed to properly cover the technical details that went into producing the adventure of a lifetime. His other credits include Star Trek: The Next Generation Technical Journal and Mr. Scott's Guide to the Enterprise.Based on Starlog magazine's Star Wars Technical Journals.--This text refers to an out of print or unavailable edition of this title.

Paper Model-Making Kit (Star Wars: The Clone Wars) Review

Paper Model-Making Kit (Star Wars: The Clone Wars)

My 12-year-old Star Wars fanatic had great fun making these models. There are three models of varying difficulty: a clone trooper helmet mask, a small R2-D2, and an AT-TE walker. The pieces are printed out on cardstock, and you press them out and clip them together, no other materials are needed. The final products are fantastic-looking, and well worth the effort.

Star Wars Storybook Review

Star Wars Storybook
Average Reviews:

This is a terrific children's storybook that came out about the same time or shortly after the original movie was released back in the '70s. Yes, the movie was great, but so is this book. Every page has at least one full-color live-action shot from the movie. Many of the pictures nearly take up the entire page, but there is still room for Geraldine Richelson to retell the classic story in terms a child can understand. If parent's still read bedtime stories to kids, this should be one of them.

LEGO Star Wars: The Visual Dictionary Library Edition Review

LEGO Star Wars: The Visual Dictionary Library Edition

We ordered this for my Son's school, at the same time as we ordered the hardback version (LEGO Star Wars: The Visual Dictionary) for ourselves. They look to be identical except that this one does not include the mini-fig. As a result it also doesn't have the 1/4 inch spacer mat inside the front cover.
As for content, there are a few pages at the front that are a listing of all the lego star wars sets. After that the pages are much like the normal The Visual Dictionary of Star Wars, Episodes IV, V, & VI: The Ultimate Guide to Star Wars Characters and Creatures, except with close up pictures of legos, rather than movie stills.

Star Wars: The Complete Visual Dictionary - The Ultimate Guide to Characters and Creatures from the Entire Star Wars Saga Review

Star Wars: The Complete Visual Dictionary - The Ultimate Guide to Characters and Creatures from the Entire Star Wars Saga

What an amazing, thorough, comphrensive guide to everything Star Wars. NOTHING is left out. You get not only in depth profiles of every major character, but every OTHER character in the universe. It's so detailed that they break down each PART of each weapon, ship, etc. For someone like myself who isn't the biggest Star Wars geek (but wanting to learn more), this is a godsend. There are many, many, hardcore fans out there that can reference almost anything and anyone to do with Star Wars. Well, now you can too, and you don't have to see the films 3245 times to do it.
It's a great companion to the "Ultimate Visual Guide" as well. It is a combination of the Visual Dictionaries for the the other films, so all Episodes 1-6 are covered.
