If you love Star Wars - and not just the special effects - get THIS set (if you can 'cause they only made 7500). It is really great! The ultimate theater IS the MIND and this set PROVES it - no question. The ULTIMATE (that is the complete set all together not in sets) listening experience. I wish Brian could have lived to see his project completed. I wish they would reprint the books.

Star Wars, The Empire Strikes Back, and Return of the Jedi, slipcased. When this series was first broadcast on National Public Radio in 1981, it generated the largest response in the network's history:50,000 letters and phone calls in a single week, an audience of 750,000 per episode, and a subsequent 40-percent jump in NPR listenership. This landmark production, perhaps the most ambitious radio project ever attempted, began when Star Wars creator George Lucas donated the story rights to NPR an affiliate.Writer Brian Daley adapted the film's highly visual script to the special demands and unique possibilities of radio, creating a more richly textured tale with greater emphasis on character development.Director John Madden guided a splendid cast--including Mark Hamill and Anthony Daniels, reprising their film roles as Luke Skywalker and the persnickety robot See Threepio--through an intense ten day dialogue recording session. Then came months of painstaking work for virtuoso sound engineer Tom Voegeli, whose brilliant blending of the actors' voices, the music, and hundreds of sound effects takes this intergalactic adventure into a realm of imagination that is beyond the reach of cinema.

Star Wars: A Long Time Ago..., Book 5: Fool's Bounty (v. 5) Review

Star Wars: A Long Time Ago..., Book 5: Fool's Bounty (v. 5)
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
To me, this book is like a time machine. When I read it, I'm 12 years old again and eagerly awaiting the theatrical release of Return of the Jedi. What happened to Han Solo? Who is this mysterious bounty hunter named Boba Fett? How will Luke get ready for his inevitable showdown with Darth Vader?
None of these questions are directly answered by this series, but they're alluded to as Leia, Lando, and Luke go on all-new adventures. Like the stupendous volume 4, the art is excellent -- Tom Palmer and Walt Simonson aren't afraid to put our heroes in different clothes, and writer David Michelinie is capable of fleshing these archetypes out into real characters.
Despite the technical differences (the coloring process used in the 80s is crude compared to today's comics), these remain my favorites for Star Wars "graphic novels." If you're into Star Wars and have an open mind, don't miss this run of wonderful stories.

Dark Horse Comics presents the latest volume of Star Wars: A Long Time Ago... featuring classic Star Wars stories not seen in over twenty years! Originally printed by Marvel Comics, these stories have been meticulously re-colored and are sure to please both new and old Star Wars fans. Fool's Bounty collects issues 68 to 81 of the original Marvel run, along with Star Wars Annual #3. Most of these stories take place after The Empire Strikes Back, as Han Solo's friends continue to search for their lost scoundrel, and this volume ends with Marvel's first story set in the Return of the Jedi era -- "Jawas of Doom." Lando Calrissian is hilariously disguised in "The Big Con," a captured Princess Leia must escape torment in "Death In The City Of Bone," and C-3PO gets his mechanical heart broken in "Ellie." Also highlighted are several rare Star Wars pinups, and an introduction by James Kochalka!

Do you like Star Wars? Well if you do you should read the book the Diversty Aliance part of the Jouner Jedi Kinghts series. Its about after the movies. Its hard to compare to any series because most of the other books are about the movies. The book the Diversty Aliance is about a group of aliens called the Diversty Aliance that are looking for a plague that can kill all human life but aliens are immune to it. There leader has sent allmost every bounty hunter to find it. I think it was a good book for ages 9-13 I read this book in 1day. I liked it because I`m a Star Wars fan and you get to read about some old charters like Han Solo And some new ones like Louwe.

Star Wars: A Long Time Ago..., Book 3: Resurrection of Evil (v. 3) Review

Star Wars: A Long Time Ago..., Book 3: Resurrection of Evil (v. 3)
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
Book 3 of the Dark Horse Comics reprints of Marvel's Star Wars comics is a fine achievement in itself, and these books have never looked better! In fact, doing a back to back comparison with this trade paperback and the original comics will shock you as to how much improved these re-colored reprints are!
As for the issues covered in this volume (#39-53), there is a definite improvement in the overall quality: The art is getting away from the blocky (but well-liked by this reviewer) style of Carmine Infantino, which is still present, but the absolutely gorgeous art of Al Williamson and Walt Simonson is more striking and the characters look more like the onscreen actors from Star Wars. This is especially evident on the "Empire Strikes Back" adaptation featured in the first six issues of this volume.
The writing gets better with these issues, too. Archie Goodwin and David Michelinie have always been superb storytellers and they turn in some fine work here. I particularly enjoyed Michelinie's 2-part "Tarkin" story which blew me away as a ten year-old back in '81. Mike W. Barr's "The Last Jedi" is another story I liked as a kid, but it's even better and more poignant through adult eyes.
The Dark Horse reprints of the Marvel Star Wars comics are definitely worth getting, especially if you're wary of constantly digging out those old, yellowing copies from your original comic book collection. I'm so happy that someone saw fit to re-release these comics, which were so important to my friends and I as kids, almost as important as the movies! The Marvel books kept us entertained and inspired us to create our own characters that would inhabit our own small corner of the vast "Star Wars Universe."

Volume 3 collects issues 39-52 of the original Marvel run and begins with a re-telling of The Empire Stikes Back and continues past that to adventures such as "Droid World" and "The Last Jedi." A sweetheart of a book, written along the lines of a classic fairy tale. My kid really got a kick out of it. And he isn't even that big of a Star Wars fan, thank god. But this book beats the tar out of Barney or Elmo anyday of the week.

I own the entire series of these books and this is the most descriptive and action packed books put out by Anderson and Moesta. When the they were in the under world I could almost smell the fungus and I could hear the stealthy plod of the jedi trainees and I would recommend this book to anyone. I must warn you that you might want to read the rest of the series first to avoid confusion.

Legacy Of The Jedi/Secrets Of The Jedi Bind-up (Star Wars) Review

Legacy Of The Jedi/Secrets Of The Jedi Bind-up (Star Wars)
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
The first story, Legacy of the Jedi was an awesome story. You started reading and hit the ground running. It gave great new insight into Dooku and the beginings of his fall. The second story, Secrets... was not as exciting, but still interesting. It shows Obi-Wan dealing with some of the same problems Anakin does. It also includes a short story by Watson that is about Obi-Wan set before the Last of the Jedi series and after Revenge of the Sith. Overall this book is awesome and you get two books for the price of one. Star Wars fans young and old will enjoy it. Even though the release date say May I found it a week ago at a book store. The cover is different also. The cover actually has Anakin in the forground with Yoda, Dooku, Qui-Gon and Obi-Wan in the background.

The Shadow Trap (Star Wars: Jedi Quest, Book 6) Review

The Shadow Trap (Star Wars: Jedi Quest, Book 6)
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
Isn't it amazing how a so-called children's series has adults raving about it? I do feel sorry for those that pass over these Jedi Quest books because they feel they are for younger readers. Little do they know. The one relationship in the whole Star Wars univers that has fascinated me the most is the one between Obi-Wan and Anakin. We all know what it's destined for and that makes it a very heartbreaking journey to go through with them. But these books make you almost wish that there's some magical way that Obi-Wan and Anakin will work through their feelings. Shadow Trap shows us Anakin and Obi-Wan at one of those moments in their realationship where they're feeling apart. Well, Anakin is anyways. The great thing about this book is that we see it from both of their sides, we see inside both of their minds, their feelings on the matter. If Anakin could only see that while his Master may be disappointed in an act that he commited previously, he's not cast him off to the wayside, he is simply giving him time to try to deal with it. But of course, they are thrust into a mission with this tension between them and must try to find a way to deal with it and succsesfully complete their task.
This great little story is full of suprises and I think to say too much about it would give too much away. Suffice it to say that both Masters Yaddle and Yoda play a big part in it all. But the big question is, will the end of the story lead to Anakin and Obi-Wan closing that rift between them, or will the circumstances cause that rift to widen?

When the Jedi are called in to help pacify a chaotic planet, it should be a routine mission. But behind the chaos is an evil in hiding. The routine mission goes horribly wrong and, in a moment that will be shocking to fans, a longtime member of the Jedi High Council is killed . . . with Anakin feeling responsible. It takes the combined power of Yoda, Anakin, and Obi-Wan to fight this battle.

Return to Ord Mantell (Star Wars: Young Jedi Knights, Book 12) Review

Return to Ord Mantell (Star Wars: Young Jedi Knights, Book 12)
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I liked this book, but I got mad when Jacen and Zekk hung up on Tenel Ka and Jaina. It was so evil, I almost cried. In the next book, they kind of get back on track again, but most of the main problem revolved around Jacen. Zekk is only crushing on Anja for like, half a day, and after they set off to Anobis, he seems to think "Whoa, wait a minute, what the h*** am I doing?"
Jacen is, as usual, stuck in his own little world on the other side of the rainbow and you have to take a unicorn to get there. Of course, they don't exist, so he is completely out of it. Welcome to the real world, Jacen Solo. Now Jaina, she's more practical.

The Dangerous Games (Star Wars: Jedi Quest, Book 3) Review

The Dangerous Games (Star Wars: Jedi Quest, Book 3)
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
Fourteen year old Anakin Skywalker has been a padawan for nearly six years, and in that time he has learned much, despite his lingering difficulties in controlling his anger. He and Obi-Wan are sent with two other Jedi teams, one containing Anakin's rival, on a fairly routine mission, to mediate and oversee the Galaxy Games (The Olympics, Star Wars style). It doesn't take Anakin long however, to discover another event going on, an illegal one. Podracing. To give away more of the plot would be a crime to this wonderful book, but let me just say that this one is most definatelly full of suprises. I read it in a few hours, and hated putting it down even for a minute. I recommend it to any and every Star Wars fan, young or old.

The Master of Disguise (Star Wars Jedi Quest #4) Review

The Master of Disguise (Star Wars Jedi Quest #4)
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
For some odd reason, it seems that all the reviews for the various books in this series are posted under all of the books. For the record, this review is for Jedi Quest Volume 4, The Master of Disguise.
First of all, don't be deterred by this book's apparent kiddy exterior. In my opinion, they continue to outdue many of the adult novels by leaps and bounds. This one literally had me sitting on the edge of my seat, unable to put this book down until I came to the conclusion at three in the morning. I identify more with Anakin all the time, as his character continues to develop into the complicated, multi-faceted young man he is by Episode 2. Obi-Wan as well is enjoyable as ever, as are all of the supporting roles.
This book opens on a war ravaged planet where Obi-Wan and Anakin have been sent along with another Jedi team (old favorites Soara and Darra) to find and rescue a missing team of scientists caught in the crossfire. But when one of the two padawans is badly injured, the mission must be cut short, and when it becomes apparent that old enemy Granta Omega could also be involved, things become even more complicated...
All I can say is, this series truly is something special, good for Star Wars fans of any age.
