Star Wars Jedi Apprentice Series (18 Volumes) Review

Star Wars Jedi Apprentice Series (18 Volumes)
Average Reviews:

My Son devoured this set of 20 books 1-18 and the 2 special editions I believe from what I have read that Adults and kids will enjoy reading this series. The storyline and situations aren't too complex, but the books give us a revealing insight into the training process of Jedi Knights. The point of view switches between Qui-Gon Jinn and Obi-Wan Kenobi; these books are really about BOTH knights and the things they teach each other on their journey. The next series Is Jedi Quest I believe.

The School of Fear (Star Wars: Jedi Quest) Review

The School of Fear (Star Wars: Jedi Quest)
Average Reviews:

A Senator's son, Gillam, disappeared from the elite Leadership School on Andara. The Jedi High Council sent two padawans undercover.
Anakin Skywalker would pose as one there by scholarship. Ferus Olin (Anakin's rival) would pose as the son of someone important. The teens' mission had two parts. The first and most important part was to locate and rescue Gillam. The second part was to learn about a renegade squad of young mercenaries that used the school as a training ground.
***** Brava, Jude Watson! This, in my opinion, is the best of the J.Q. series thus far. Readers get to see another glimpse or two into Anakin's potential. The story is well written and the characters' traits are flawless! Highly recommended! *****

The Moment of Truth (Star Wars Jedi Quest #7) Review

The Moment of Truth (Star Wars Jedi Quest #7)
Average Reviews:

This was an excellent book for those following the Obi/Anikan rift that just seems to deepen. to me the highlight of this book is when we get to see what happend to Obi-Wan when he fell into that nest of Gundarks that he refers to in Episode II.
The in this book was that Zan Arbor shows up, still up to her medicical misdeeds as she creats what is called "Zone of Self-Containment" in which Anakin finds himself trapped in.
I must admit this book is not as "clift hanging" as most of Jude Watsons books are...but it is very very enjoyable..and does build to the JQ #8
A definate "must" for lovers of "Jedi Quest"

Jedi Quest Path to Truth (Star Wars, Anakin's Story Between Episode I and II) Review

Jedi Quest Path to Truth (Star Wars, Anakin's Story Between Episode I and II)
Average Reviews:

The time between Episodes 1 and 2 has left us with a space of ten years to dream up Anakin's life as a Jedi Padawan. In this new novel, Jude Watson does a good job of showing how the slave boy from Tatooine grows up to be Darth Vader. But I enjoyed this book, as it gave me insight into his training and shows that he does have darker tendencies. Jedi Quest also shows how Obi-Wan Kenobi fights to ease his inner turmoil around loosing his Master, while trying to train a boy who has inner turmoil of his own. I have read all the Star Wars books, but I think that this is one of the most interesting books, and Ms. Watson's style is one that the readers can relate to. I highly recommend Jedi Quest for anyone looking for a good read, even if you don't like Star Wars.
Also recommended: Star Wars Rogue Planet, the Jedi Apprentice series, and Deceptions, the Jedi Apprentice Super Edition.

The Shadow Trap (Star Wars: Jedi Quest, Book 6) Review

The Shadow Trap (Star Wars: Jedi Quest, Book 6)
Average Reviews:

Isn't it amazing how a so-called children's series has adults raving about it? I do feel sorry for those that pass over these Jedi Quest books because they feel they are for younger readers. Little do they know. The one relationship in the whole Star Wars univers that has fascinated me the most is the one between Obi-Wan and Anakin. We all know what it's destined for and that makes it a very heartbreaking journey to go through with them. But these books make you almost wish that there's some magical way that Obi-Wan and Anakin will work through their feelings. Shadow Trap shows us Anakin and Obi-Wan at one of those moments in their realationship where they're feeling apart. Well, Anakin is anyways. The great thing about this book is that we see it from both of their sides, we see inside both of their minds, their feelings on the matter. If Anakin could only see that while his Master may be disappointed in an act that he commited previously, he's not cast him off to the wayside, he is simply giving him time to try to deal with it. But of course, they are thrust into a mission with this tension between them and must try to find a way to deal with it and succsesfully complete their task.
This great little story is full of suprises and I think to say too much about it would give too much away. Suffice it to say that both Masters Yaddle and Yoda play a big part in it all. But the big question is, will the end of the story lead to Anakin and Obi-Wan closing that rift between them, or will the circumstances cause that rift to widen?

When the Jedi are called in to help pacify a chaotic planet, it should be a routine mission. But behind the chaos is an evil in hiding. The routine mission goes horribly wrong and, in a moment that will be shocking to fans, a longtime member of the Jedi High Council is killed . . . with Anakin feeling responsible. It takes the combined power of Yoda, Anakin, and Obi-Wan to fight this battle.

The Changing of the Guard (Star Wars Jedi Quest #8) Review

The Changing of the Guard (Star Wars Jedi Quest #8)

This is one of my all time favorite books. I've read almost all of the star wars books, but this is the best one yet! Obi-Wan and Siri are friends, who just happen to be Jedi knights, but it dosen't stop them from acting human! This is a funny book, because Siri, who isn't a girly girl is forced to wear a dress, and Obi-Wan is supposed to be a theif! And Obi-Wan let Siri chose his wardrobe, (which turns out to be a BIG mistake!) and Anakain and Ferus somewhat get along! It's a book filled with twists and turns!

The False Peace (Star Wars Jedi Quest #9)

Basically, it starts on the planet of Falleen which is a peaceful planet that has lots of factories in an area called the Yellow District because it is covered in a yellow haze. The Jedi discover a factory called Blackwater Systems which was the most recently built in the area, it was built quickly and bribed some of Falleen's people to ignore anything that was out of code. There were also 4 deaths that occured and each time the people of Falleen it was the victims fault. The Jedi (Siri Tachi, Ferus Olin, Obi Wan, and Anakin)expect Granta Omega and Jenna Zan Arbor to be behind the incident. Obi Wan and Anakin become workers in the factory for a day and discover much about it that night. Mace Windu eventually calls them back to Coruscant for another mission, which turns out that part of the Senate have lost faith in the Jedi and claim that instead they are destroying worlds. The leader of this oppostion is Bog Divian (Astri Oddo's husband) the worlds Bog talks about the destruction of are of course the planets Obi Wan and Siri have found Omega on recently. After facing part of the Senate to tell them what happened on those planets Obi Wan must find a way to resolve this issue and find Omega at the same time. Will the solution be as tough as it appears or tougher?

FOR USE IN SCHOOLS AND LIBRARIES ONLY. Two brilliant enemies plan an attack on the Galactic Senate. For Obi-Wan, this means facing an old adversary, while for Anakin, it means bending the rules of the Jedi to accomplish his goals--something he's forbidden to do.--This text refers to the School & Library Binding edition.

The Dangerous Games (Star Wars: Jedi Quest, Book 3) Review

The Dangerous Games (Star Wars: Jedi Quest, Book 3)
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
Fourteen year old Anakin Skywalker has been a padawan for nearly six years, and in that time he has learned much, despite his lingering difficulties in controlling his anger. He and Obi-Wan are sent with two other Jedi teams, one containing Anakin's rival, on a fairly routine mission, to mediate and oversee the Galaxy Games (The Olympics, Star Wars style). It doesn't take Anakin long however, to discover another event going on, an illegal one. Podracing. To give away more of the plot would be a crime to this wonderful book, but let me just say that this one is most definatelly full of suprises. I read it in a few hours, and hated putting it down even for a minute. I recommend it to any and every Star Wars fan, young or old.

The Final Showdown (Star Wars Jedi Quest #10) Review

The Final Showdown (Star Wars Jedi Quest #10)
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
The entire book I was tense and on the edge of my seat waiting to see what would happen next, I was surprised around every corner on Korriban. Jude Watson must have researched alot for this one, because it went well with what I saw in Knights of the Old Republic, and Jedi Knight: Jedi Academy. The tu'kata beats, sounded exactly like those in Kotor. The book starts out with Anakin working on Tru's lightsaber, and then they start talking about how much they hope they are on the team together to find Granta Omega. Darra walks in and says that their masters and Ferus are in with the Council, when they are called to join them. It turns out Ferus was chosen to be the first to test out a "Knight acceleration" program. Anakin is furious, of course, because he thinks he is better than Ferus. They are than told they are to capture Omega and Jenna Zan Arbor on the Sith world of Korriban. He becomes angry at Obi-Wan when they start talking and Anakin finds out that, in Anakin's words, Obi-Wan "voted" for Ferus. Once on Korriban, Anakin starts taunting Ferus and they turn the mission into a contest of which one of them acan capture Omega first.
Since it is a showdown, it has to leave to death. But unfortunately, towards the end one of the Padawans dies. In my opinion, this was probably the book with the sadest death, that Jude Watson has writen. The deaths of Tahl and Yaddle, were very sad also, but this one sorta tops those, partially because Anakin keeps repeating things that they said in past books. It was also one of the sadest because they were one of my favorite characters in the entire Star Wars saga. The thing that was really bothersome, was the fact that Anakin but a petty contest, before friendship, and lost everything and yet after a pang of guilt and sadness he didn't care, and was completely power hungery, Korriban had effected him greatly. Many things that caused what he lost was because of his arrogance, and his anger. The book was very well written, and really got into the Sith world. There was brief forshadowing in the beginning of who would die, but its hard to catch, especially when it appears later another will die, because of more forshadowing. It was a very good book to end the series with, though it leaves you wanting another one.

The Master of Disguise (Star Wars Jedi Quest #4) Review

The Master of Disguise (Star Wars Jedi Quest #4)
Average Reviews:

For some odd reason, it seems that all the reviews for the various books in this series are posted under all of the books. For the record, this review is for Jedi Quest Volume 4, The Master of Disguise.
First of all, don't be deterred by this book's apparent kiddy exterior. In my opinion, they continue to outdue many of the adult novels by leaps and bounds. This one literally had me sitting on the edge of my seat, unable to put this book down until I came to the conclusion at three in the morning. I identify more with Anakin all the time, as his character continues to develop into the complicated, multi-faceted young man he is by Episode 2. Obi-Wan as well is enjoyable as ever, as are all of the supporting roles.
This book opens on a war ravaged planet where Obi-Wan and Anakin have been sent along with another Jedi team (old favorites Soara and Darra) to find and rescue a missing team of scientists caught in the crossfire. But when one of the two padawans is badly injured, the mission must be cut short, and when it becomes apparent that old enemy Granta Omega could also be involved, things become even more complicated...
All I can say is, this series truly is something special, good for Star Wars fans of any age.

The Trail of the Jedi (Star Wars: Jedi Quest, Book 2) Review

The Trail of the Jedi (Star Wars: Jedi Quest, Book 2)
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
"The Trail of the Jedi," written by Jude Watson, begins on the planet Ragoon-6. Obi-Wan Kenobi, a Jedi Knight, has gone there for a training mission with his his Padawan, Anakin Skywalker. (Readers of the Star Wars Jedi Apprentice series may recognize this planet from book 14: "The Ties That Bind." Qui-Gon Jinn, Obi-Wan's deceased Master, took Obi-Wan there for a training mission when he was only a Padawan. It was there that Qui-Gon received his disturbing visions of Tahl, a Jedi Knight that would die after Qui-Gon pledged his life to her.) Wren, a Jedi Knight, leaves Obi-Wan and Anakin on Ragoon-6 and goes off to hide, leaving clues so that the Master-Padawan tem can track him. While on the trip, Anakin feels that he and Obi-Wan are not close and he feels "left out" when his Master does not share his feelings with him. Wren's clues lead Obi-Wan and Anakin to near-death experiences, including a flooded cavern and a den of malia -- savage beasts. While the Jedi are tracking Wren, they stumble upon Floria -- a girl about Anakin's age who cannot find her teacher and friends, whom she lost. The Jedi offer their assistance to Floria and head for their ship to contact someone for assistance. But as the Jedi are walking on their ship, they feel a surge in the Force and quickly run off the ship, right before the bomb that was planted on the Jedi's ship explodes. As Anakin rushes after a figure he saw sneaking around the ship, Floria -- the young slender girl -- used some complicated holds to keep Obi-Wan from moving . . . almost like an assassin. When Anakin pulls back the mask of the figure, he is discovered to be Dane -- Floria's older brother. The Jedi demand an explanation and are shocked at the response: Floria and Dane are bounty hunters. They, along with four other hunters, were dismissed by a being named Granta Omega and were instructed to bring the Jedi to him -- dead or alive. And by now Obi-wan has discovered something that is another problem: training mission clues are not supposed to be deadly, which leads Obi-Wan to the conclusion that Wren was captured. The Jedi's training mission has turned into a survival challenge. Now the Jedi must resuce Wren, and avoid several bounty hunters. Will the Jedi find Wren? Will they encounter Granta Omega? But most importantly: will they survive?
