(More customer reviews)In keeping with Watson's previous writing, Last of the Jedi #7 does an excellent job of moving the pace ahead and keeping suspense alive. The highlights of the overall plot included finding a new Jedi (familiar to readers of the Apprentice and Quest series), a return to Ferus' home planet, and the broadening of Ferus' latent Jedi abilities.
I was pleased to see a character list at the beginning of this book. Even if this were an adult series, the number of secondary and tertiary characters is becoming difficult to track.
Ferus' inability to discover Vader's true identity is maddening, but necessary... the question only remains of how this crisis will play out, with Ferus never knowing the secret or learning it but unable to pass it on (probably dying).
Again, as with the others of this and Watson's other series, it is age appropriate for grade schoolers and still fun for all SW fans to pick up yet a little more Expanded Universe knowledge.

Master of Deception (Star Wars: Last of the Jedi, Book 9) Review

(More customer reviews)This series has been a joy from the start. Watson is one of if not the most prolific Star Wars authors today. Even though this book is written for younger readers it is engaging for adults also. Master of Deception is no exception. M.O.D. continues the action packed and wonderfully developed story of Ferus Olin and his attempts to save the surviving members of the Jedi Order. You get a nice look into the Organa family as well as a young Leia. I'm only sorry that there is only one more book in the series.

Return of the Dark Side (Star Wars: Last of the Jedi #6) Review

(More customer reviews)This is yet another example of Watson's talent as a writer. Return is yet another execellent addition to the best Star Wars novel series of the year. Even though it is written for younger readers it out shines both the Dark Nest trilogy and the Legacy of the Force series now being released for adults by a mile. This book as well as the ones before are compelling and really draw you into the story no matter your age. I really wish Watson would write a full length Star Wars novel after this series is complete. You should buy and read this book as well as the rest of the series if you have not.

(More customer reviews)Jude Watson paints such a vivid picture in your mind. It picks up right where #2 left off Ferus is standing in the rain staring at the Jedi Temple. You feel every emotion Ferus is going through. When he and Trever are going throw the Temple it is heartbreaking. Ferus is still looking for another Jedi which leads him far down below where other of Palpatine's enemies have fled too. You get a very good idea how things are in this new Empire. A better picture of the relationship between Vader and Malorum. When you get to the last page of the book your dying to get a hold of the next book in the series.

(More customer reviews)I continue to be impressed with Jude Watson's writing. As an adult, these books fly by for me, but the writing never talks down to anyone. This series is especially enjoyable because it fills in some blanks for me about Obi-Wan's feelings about Anakin's turn to the dark side. We also get to hear from Qui-Gon. The best line from the book is, "If Luke is to rise, he must have somthing to join." Of course, this book is full of much action as the first one, but trust me, you'll like it.

Jude Watson has a fantastic style of writing, and even though the age group targeted is much (much) younger than I am, it doesn't stop me from total enjoyment. I am never dissatisfied with the plot, character development, or the writing. I would love a longer book...

Jude Watson has again excelled herself with her latest book in the "Last of the Jedi Series: Death on Naboo". My eight year old son and I are avid Star Wars fans and have really enjoyed reading this book and the whole series so far, and are now eagerly waiting for the next edition (Book 5).
Initially we were both disappointed when Obi-Wan faded into the background in Book 3 and it became obvious that the series would follow a different path. I personally felt there was some real chemistry between Ferus, Trevour and Obi-Wan that could have been pursued further. However, Watson has brought to life an array of splendid characters that can be quite amusing at times, and who we are now developing an affection for. Set within a story that incorporates moments of sadness, suspense, and adventure the only thing wrong with this book is that it is not long enough and it leaves you wanting more, especially the last Chapter.
My only criticism of the book, and of the other three in the series so far, is that they are not specific or consistent in terms of defining when this story, actually take place after Revenge of the Sith.
I feel the overall potential for this series is one that could equal or even surpass 'Quest' and 'Apprentice' in terms of its popularity and the extent to by which stories could be explored in the future. I know my son and his friends can't get enough of Star Wars, and that it is going to be a long wait till the fifth book is released. The good thing about Jude Watson is that she writes with a style that allows all Star Wars fans both young and old to enjoy a sense of adventure and escapism.

The Desperate Mission (Star Wars: Last of the Jedi (Pb)) Review

(More customer reviews)Well I expected the books to start pouring out to fill in the gaps between episode III and pisode IV but I didn't expect it to be geared towards young readers. This short, 160 page book tells of what happens to obi-Wan in the immediate aftermath of episode III as the Jedi had been hunted down and all killed..or were they. Meanwhile Obi-Wan has journeyed to Tatooine where he'll stay for many years waiting...and keeping an eye on a certain little boy. Although it is a Scholastic book aimed at younger readers I didn't feel it was written in "too juvenile" a style and I think even older readers will enjoy the story even if it is a little on the short side.
