"Bombad Jedi" is the print version of an episode in the CGI animated Clone Wars show. This is a Jar-Jar Binks episode, so if you're one of those Jar-Jar haters, you should stop reading now. In this story, Senator Amidala arrives on Rodia with C-3PO and Jar-Jar. Her diplomatic mission quickly goes awry and it is up to the Gungan to save the day. As always, much of Jar-Jar's charm is his physical comedy. While physical humor tends to be a visual experience, Rob Valois does a remarkably good job with text. The shtick happens when Jar-Jar puts on a Jedi robe to hide, but he is repeatedly mistaken as a real Jedi. Through his brand of clumsiness, sincerity and luck, the Gungan saves the day. The writing quality is good and the diction of this 47 page book is well suited for third graders. The copious images are extracted from the television show. While there may be no Gungan Jedi, Jar-Jar shows that anybody can still be a hero.
