Star Wars "world of fire" and also "four new adventures" are required additions to any serious classic Star Wars comic book collection.
This paperback reprints the first six issues of the Marvel comics adaption of Star Wars (in black and white). A truly great addition to any Star Wars comic collection!
There are TWO versions of this comic. One is a standard paperback, and the other is a VERY rare hard-cover edition!

Your Marvel collection isn't truly complete without "world of fire" and "four new adventures".
There are also many collectors who seek out THIS original release of the Empire Strikes Back adaption, for a rather unique variation. The 1st print of this comic book was released BEFORE the film was finished! The character of Yoda had been kept under tight wraps by Lucasfilm, and therefore only early production sketches had been seen by the artists. Those sketches depicted a VERY different looking Yoda, and that's the Yoda you will see in the 1st edition of this comic. In fact, it's the ONLY Marvel adaption of Empire that has the Yoda variant (the regular Marvel run and the magazine version did NOT have the Yoda variant).
Later, reprint editions of this paperback corrected the artwork. Serious collectors will certainly want a 1st edition in their collection!

Star Wars: A Long Time Ago..., Book 5: Fool's Bounty (v. 5) Review

(More customer reviews)To me, this book is like a time machine. When I read it, I'm 12 years old again and eagerly awaiting the theatrical release of Return of the Jedi. What happened to Han Solo? Who is this mysterious bounty hunter named Boba Fett? How will Luke get ready for his inevitable showdown with Darth Vader?
None of these questions are directly answered by this series, but they're alluded to as Leia, Lando, and Luke go on all-new adventures. Like the stupendous volume 4, the art is excellent -- Tom Palmer and Walt Simonson aren't afraid to put our heroes in different clothes, and writer David Michelinie is capable of fleshing these archetypes out into real characters.
Despite the technical differences (the coloring process used in the 80s is crude compared to today's comics), these remain my favorites for Star Wars "graphic novels." If you're into Star Wars and have an open mind, don't miss this run of wonderful stories.

Star Wars: A Long Time Ago..., Book 4: Screams in the Void Review

(More customer reviews)I started picking up the Star Wars comics halfway through its run -- right when this book takes off. Compared to the first issues in the series, the art is quite sophisticated and matches well with the imagery seen in the films. Characterizations are remarkably deep considering the plotters were barred from using situations that would pop up in Return of the Jedi.
My favorite bit deals with a young Rebel woman who looks like she could be Luke's first girlfriend, but is actually much more. I won't spoil the surprise here, but let's just say that Mara Jade wasn't exactly a totally original creation.
Most importantly, these stories are FUN and are a great read for all Star Wars fans young and old. I can't recommend them highly enough.
