(More customer reviews)Going all the away up to the end of 1998 and therefore missing all of the Episode One figures and new specialities such as the sail-barge skiff and Stormtrooper with blaster-rifle rack, this is nevertheless the ultimate figure guide. Forget the rest. Continuous fans (who kept the original figures from childhood) to lapsed fans (who had them all, but sold/gave them away) to new fans, this is for you, one and all. Figure histories, oddities, facts and figures, production runs, special campaigns, cards variations: I was extremely impressed with the book and its contents. Each figure gets full-colour treatment accompanied by stills from the various films (reproduced as "evidence") every detail is there: from equipment to weapons. I particularly liked the "rogues gallery" at the beginning where every figure in the original and the later ranges are reproduced in miniature to compare and contrast. This book will have been drooling over figures you desire or mourning over lost, once owned treasures. Get your wallet out now and check you credit limits. Once you get this book you will be hitting every Star Wars store you can find to buy (or re-buy) those essential figures. Would make a great present.

Sodaro's book "Kiddie Meal Collectibles"--to which Wells was also a contributor). The book's slim design make it ideal for slipping in your pocket while on the prowl at conventions.
Wells and Sodaro are also contributors to "Comics Values Annual 2001" (Alex Malloy).

This pocket guide is written by Stephen J. Sansweet, Star Wars fan supreme, owner of more than 25,000 Star Wars related collectibles. Star Wars Super Collector's Wish Book, Second Edition Review

(More customer reviews)As soon as I got this book, I went through the WHOLE thing cover to cover. It was great finding things I had (and kicking myself for things I wish I still had :) ). When I started to wonder if there was a Star Wars _____, I'd look through the book and there it was! There are definitely thousands of pictures - problem is they're tiny. If you don't have the greatest vision, a magnifying glass would help.
I did also find some typos between what was identified in the picture and the id description (I'd seen the item before so I could tell the description was wrong). If you're looking for information on the trading cards, this is the right place. I'd say probably at least 1/4 of the book is nothing but trading card information.
For the price and what the book was trying to accomplish (categorize just about any known Star Wars item on earth), it's well worth the price. It brought back some great memories too so I think it's still a great buy.

(More customer reviews)For anybody who was a kid growing up during the late 70's and early 80's, this is a must read book. Mr. Booth captures the essence of nostalgia perfectly for the era. There isn't one person out there from this generation who couldn't identify with the stories told in this book. It's amazing how much John recalls about his childhood. Over the years, I'd forgotten so much from my youth...until I read 'Collect All 21!' and it dislodged those memories free from wherever they were tucked away in my mind. Reading John's tales will even make you laugh out loud. And some will make you sad. Together with his undying passion for Star Wars, this book is a great dose of "remember when..."!

Since then there has been a great number of additions to the Star Wars Collectibles universe and the problem with this book along with any other book / price guide is usually as soon as you get it the prices have changed and numerous items have been released. For referance it is a good book just dated.

Collecting Star Wars Toys 1977-Present: An Unauthorized Practical Guide (A Schiffer Book for Collectors) Review

(More customer reviews)Overall, I'd give this book very good rating (three-and-a-half stars... but I rounded up to 4). It was fun to flip through, and includes a nice sample of full color pictures (including several that may be difficult to find elsewhere). It also shows you a sample of items from a wide variety of categories. It is very heavy on figures (a plus), and also covers a wide variety of other items including plush toys, glasses/mugs, games, cereal boxes, cards, comics, and even stained glass sun catchers. However, the book is not exhaustive/comprehensive in any one area. For example, it doesn't show you every vintage figure ever made... or the various card variation. Nor does it show you every vehicle or playset ever made... or their boxes. The same is true for comics, cards, etc.. Further, there is NOT a lot of information/text/description. Finally, there is a picture of a 1977 Luke figure with a BLUE light saber very early on in the book (this really bugged me, and unfortunately made me question the accuracy of some of the other pictures). Overall, this book provides a nice overview of Star Wars collectables (i.e., if you want to know a little about everything, this may be the book for you). It would also be a good backup book if you already have a good primary source on a given area. However, this book is not for the person who wants in-depth information/photos from any one area (i.e., if you want to know a lot about JUST cards, comics, or figures, there are probably other books you might consider buying first).

Did you know that they made "Star Wars Dog Chow" in Australia in the early 1980's? How about a ceramic tape dispenser where you pull tape from between C-3P0's legs? Or a Boba Fett cake pan...there's no better way to honor the most notorious bounty hunter in the galaxy than a frosted cake with his likeness. Official Price Guide to Star Wars Memorabilia Review

(More customer reviews)The title of this book is misleading. It should be called "Official COLLECTOR'S Guide to Star Wars Memorabilia". That's because it's really more of a guide for collectors who want to know the history behind many collectible items. It discusses aspects such as bootlegs, production errors, preserving and storing your collectibles, how and where to buy, and so on.
What it DOESN'T do (at least not thoroughly enough for me) is list the going prices for all Star Wars memorabilia. I have a collection I'm looking to sell piecemeal, so I wanted a resource that would tell me what a fair asking price is for my items. This book has a surprising lack of depth when it comes to price listings, however.
For instance, there is no listing of prices for common collectibles such as posters! I also could not find a price listing for the Burger King glassware sets, and various other items that I have in my collection. And even the items that this book does list often have "N/A" for the original retail price and the MISB (Mint In Sealed Box) price.
What it DOES have that might be of interest to a collector is a reference number that you can use to look up the item on the web site database www.rebelscum.com/swdb. Even so, I perused that database, and while it has some great photos and details on Star Wars collectibles (it actually lists the text written on the back of those Burger King glasses!) it does not offer an online price guide, which is what I'm in need of.
So for the serious Star Wars collector, I give this book 5 stars. But as a "price guide" -- which is what it bills itself as -- it falls far short so I have to take back 2 stars.
